We have had good experiences with rental cars. I like renting from places ( Alamo most recently) that let you choose your own vehicle within a class. There are a lot of people renting the cars, certainly. But on an island the size of Oahu, I think it is hard to rack up too many miles on the typical tourist itinerary. Edited: 5 years ago

At National , (once you complete the paperwork)you get to select your own vehicle.....You go to the lot section for your category.say Mid size car and there may be 6 or so different vehicles to choose from. So if color or Manufacturer is important.

Re: Enterprise or Alamo Airport location. 8 years ago. FYI, Alamo (5 mins) and Enterprise (few minutes) are located away from HNL. I have used both and favor Alamo the best. Service can be great if you pre-book online for express check out or use the kiosk upon arrival at your car rental office. Good luck.
