Re: Alternate route to by-pass Atlanta to the west no interstate. 5 years ago. Totally agree with the US 27 route. You could actually get on 27 at Ocala and make it a long great drive. Great scenic route. Lots of shops, small towns, eateries and history. This will be a long drive, however, slow down, enjoy life.
Although there is not much to see (the school house is actually a private residence) it is fascinating to see it there, next to the church, just like in the iconic movie (only that the movie cheated with the location - schoolhouse and church are not in Bodega Bay and visible from the water, but in the nearby town of Bodega, a few miles away).

You can also take 231 out of Montgomery. 231 is a city route and 331 is a scenic route. Both take about the same amount of time though. Report inappropriate content.
