    You need to have a passport to enter Dominican Republic and if the consulate states you need a visa, then you must have it. I didn't need a visa to enter DR, but I did have to show my passport to enter. Green Card only serves you on your way back to US to prove that you are a legal resident of US so they can let you in back to US.
