The problem in dropping it off thr night before is many hotel don’t operate shuttles for flights pre 7am. Many national car rental companies allo early am drop car off and put keys in a box.

Enterprise 5:30 a.m. -11:45 p.m.. Hertz says 0700-0230. Rates can vary widely from company to comapny, so unless Hertz is cheaper, I'd just use a taxi that night (likely ...

Upon pick-up at the Dulles airport, I was brought out to the dimly lit garage where the attendent asked me to choose a car. Upon choosing a car, the employee simply handed me the keys and asked me to sign.

1.) Enterprise (I love Enterprise) Economy Size $49.69 per day $237.56 entire rental. 2.) Thrifty/ they have a Wild card Special you get a Mid Size or Full Size car for $48.44 per day total of $193. 76 for the entire rental. On average around here, a standard/mid size car will cost at least $45-$50 per day.
I ought to know the answer to this, but sadly don't. I hate taking the shuttle from the terminal to the rental car facility garage; takes forever. I can always find the walkway when returning a car, but can't seem to find it when picking up a car. Of course when I'm leaving, I don't think about turning around to see where I came from.
