Calling the airline to confirm the reservation is 100% is not a bad thing. You cannot choose a seat and no one knows why. That isn't the end of the world. Stop calling the airline. Continue to check online. Best guess the air marshal is tentative and a number of first class seats are blocked. Leave well enough alone.

Perhaps you'd like to post it, because none of the email contacts on the website are for reservations/enquires. Also, although the site map lists an email contact, when you click on the link it returns "page not found".
The LATAM website is apparently still broken after all these years. I tried multiple browsers and it still won't let me book my flight.. It sounds like some people have had success booking tickets with them by using Expedia, but that seems even more risky and complicated if a refund is needed later (i.e. if covid restrictions cause more problems).
