   5. Re: Toll charge payment for rental car. From my experience, Hertz takes around a week to process the toll charges, which are then compiled and charged to the same card you used for the rental. The toll tag is included in the rental rate, so the additional charge is just for the actual toll charges accrued + 25% VAT.

Think about it--a UK car will have a steering wheel on the right, and no one in France or Italy will want to rent a car like this, so it will have to be driven back to Manchester.

After reading numerous reviews and spending several hours doing my homework about renting a car in Germany I still ended up with an additional $176.00 worth of charges on my credit card.
