1. Re: Using ATT cell phone in Norway. Turning off roaming for data leaves your phone open to receive calls, but you will pay to receive calls. To anyone calling you it will appear that your phone is in the US and they will pay to call US. You will pay the charge from US to Norway.
Just an FYI, people in FP don’t use the internet like Americans do. I would advise using your AT&T international plan or purchasing a travelers SIM from the Vini company if you need to make local phone calls while in FP. I’m certainly glad I did. Case in point, I sent an email to a company in Moorea inquiring about availability for a tour ...

I always use ATT when I travel internationally, it costs $10 a day for an international plan, it automatically turns on and off when you leave the country and when you return. Unlimited talk and data so if the wifi isn't good I use my phone as a hot spot and teether my laptop to the phone.

It costs about $1.25/minute, but reception is good. You will not have a problem in St. Martin with T Mobile.

We have AT&T and we have an international plan that puts the price at something like $1 a minute. The service on the phone was LIME, but it worked seamlessly with AT&T.
12 years ago. Each text for me was .50 and it was roughly $1.69 per minute. I made 5 calls to the US and sent about 8-9 texts, also received 4. I paid probably a extra $29.00 on my cell bill. I do have a International plan with AT&T. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Report inappropriate content.
If you're asking about the international roaming using AT&T, ask them if your plan includes that. If not, you'll either be charged a-la-carte (per min/per text/data) or they can show you a few package options to add on. Reception was great (both data/calls) everywhere I went. All phone plans are different so it's best you contact the carrier.

It works fine most of the time, my husband has to use his cell phone, as it's his business phone. In case you're interested, there are bars that have toll free calls home if you order food or drink.
