10. Re: Using USA AT&T Cell Phone in England. 10 years ago. Cheap phones start at £5 (plus £10 to buy minutes/tests) at places like Carphone Warehouse. Any phone you buy at CW will automatically be unlocked and you could buy a French SIM with an appropriate amount of credit when you get to Paris.

It works fine most of the time, my husband has to use his cell phone, as it's his business phone. In case you're interested, there are bars that have toll free calls home if you order food or drink.
3. Re: Cell phone tips for US Tourists. Best deal is to rent or even purchase a phone with credits you can make local & long distance calls ($40USD) If using for work/WiFi etc...get a plan (I’ve had ATT passport in the past) but still had a local phone for calls. And yes WhatsApp is great.

I always use ATT when I travel internationally, it costs $10 a day for an international plan, it automatically turns on and off when you leave the country and when you return. Unlimited talk and data so if the wifi isn't good I use my phone as a hot spot and teether my laptop to the phone.
12 years ago. Each text for me was .50 and it was roughly $1.69 per minute. I made 5 calls to the US and sent about 8-9 texts, also received 4. I paid probably a extra $29.00 on my cell bill. I do have a International plan with AT&T. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Report inappropriate content.
Call ATT and sign up for international service before you go. It's about $5 or so for the month. You calls will be $2.29per minute both incoming and outgoing, as well as missed calls gone to voice mail. (so turn OFF your phone when not in use). TXT's are $.45 per txt outgoing/ Free incoming.

I also purchased EC $40.00 (US $16.00) of air time and have called numbers in the USA, Canada and of course many local numbers in St Lucia. I still ...
