Jul 2020 • Couples. Highway 191 south out of Bozeman will take you through a narrow canyon, with the road hugging the beautiful Gallatin River all the way to Big Sky - about 50 miles. Dramatic cliffs hem in the road in certain pinch points making more of an impression. Plenty of turnouts along the way. Great drive.

Re: Drive from Bozeman to Helena. I've driven 287 many times to get up to Helena. From Bozeman, it's 98 miles to Helena via I90/hwy 287. If you go via I90/I15, it's 115 miles.
