I went through Hertz.com, logged into my account, used the "modify reservations" tab on the website to locate the reservation made through Priceline. The reservation number is on the Priceline confirmation you received by email. I made sure that my Hertz account had current driver's license, credit card info, etc.

Yes, contracts are binding but there's no contract until you sign the rental agreement. The reservation is just that, a reservation. There are no laws that compel car rental companies to honor reservations. And Hertz describes prepayment as a discount program, not a guarantee. Hertz cancelled my reservation. Had existing confirmation for car rental on 03/26 for a total cost of $509 for 7days. Gold member, Hertz declined to lease me a car stating " you are on do not rent list". Hertz declined to explain the reason why. They provided me with the number that I had to contact to get my question answered.

Not sure if this assists, but l have always found that when booking through a third party (ie a tour package), all entitlements and perks with companies like Hilton, Sheraton, Hertz etc (except for airlines miles) become nullified.
