   According to the link above Advantage will debit your card the total of the rental plus up to $140 deposit. So, if your rental total is $200 plus a $140 deposit= $340 debited from your card immediately and then the deposit refunded some days after you return the car. The potential issue with using Debit is that any pre-authorisation ("hold") placed on your card is held against your money, rendering it inaccesible for any other purpose until it's cleared/settled. So your account has to contain enough to cover this pluds your actual spends.

There are ways to get around it, but they need a credit card and will put a large hold on it, or need an equally large amount of cash as a deposit.

If you don't , then the rental co. has to put a "hold" on your credit limit - they can't do that with a debit/bank card. Report inappropriate content.
