I think Priceline has gotten away from their original sales model. They used to mainly offer blind bidding for potential steep discounts. When I looked at Priceline recently for a car rental their prices were comparable to booking through any other third party or booking direct and most of the listings named the rental car company.

I booked 3 days car rental through Priceline. Priceline charge me$261 ($86 for each day)for only reservation a car, not for car rental! Never heard a third party can charge you reservation fee. They call it prepayment for car rental at booking time which misleading you. Pretty high profit! Reply.

So when booking the rental car can change the price at the time of pickup and you have no recourse. Priceline’s ‘guarantee’ only applies to something posted online by another booking agency. So it is totally possible you book at a specific price, arrive to get vehicle and price is not as quoted.
Priceline is ABSOLUTELY scamming it’s customers. When they say the “Express Deal” is $20.00 cheaper and they charge you an extra $19.20 in “taxes and fees”, that is my definition of a S-C-A-M. (Fairly easy check - Ramsey MN, 6/17/22 - Comfort Suites). However, I’m not sure Priceline is setting the “taxes and fees”.
