I read those articles and I don't see any reference to contact lens solution being a medical necessity. If you go to the TSA website, under 3 -1--1 rules, you can type in the liquid you are questioning, it brings up many ways to say "contact solution", pick one, click search, it brings you back to the rules on 3 - 1 -1.
I am opening this thread because so many contact solutions come in the size of 3.5 oz, while the TSA limit is 3.4 oz. The different is so tiny. Checking in my luggage is not an option because I will be traveling light. There are very few travel size solutions for gas permeable lenses on Amazon. And their prices are high, e.g, $9 for 0.33 oz.
The price level seems to be at the highest end of the European range in France. Generally even some 20-30% above the cheapest countries. I would say the saline solutions are best available at "Opticiens" not perhaps pharmacies. There are optical stores everywhere, many-many different chains etc.
