I've used it in over 20 countries. They recently did an update and I can't see the roads anymore. It's just a white space and dots for locations.

To get to street view, drag the little orange "guy" that is just above the zoom control onto the map - it will highlight where street view is available by outlining it in blue (I think). Pretty neato stuff - fun to get a peek at the Cabo streets of a year ago!
