The toll for the section you are on will not be too expensive. Make sure you have some one dollar bills and lots of quarters. The manned booths usually can make change, but there are lanes where at the toll plaza there are drop baskets to just put in the exact amount in coins. You don't need the EZ tag or any transponder to use the tollway.

As long as you don't activate the tag (typically by physically sliding it out of the box), then you'll be fine. Understand if you use it even once, then a daily "usage fee" starts to be charged - in addition to the tolls.
The easiest way to go to M City is to take 1-10 and then beltway 8 (Sam Houston tollway). If you don't want to use the toll raod then from 1-10 take Hwy 6 and from there to Hwy 90 - about the same distance, but Hwy 6 will have some stop lights. Most rental cars have the toll tag and they will bill you after the fact (the rental car company).
Rec. The Westpark Tollway, also Fort Bend Westpark Tollway, is a controlled-access toll road in Texas, serving western Houston and Harris County, and northeastern Fort Bend County. Construction on the facility began in 2001 and portions of the road were opened to traffic in May 2004. Construction of the roadway was completed in August 2005.
The Harris County EZ Tag site isn't happening on my computer - nothing wrong with your link, same thing when I googled it. But other websites gave me a pretty awful insight - slow registration process so folk get penalised if they use a toll road shortly after registering / topping up, and court cases against Harris County for over-charging.
