You'll probably want to fly into Bob Hope / Burbank airport (BUR) - its roughly the same distance to the American Girl Store (which is in The Grove shopping center) as LAX, but BUR is a much smaller, less hassle and easier to get in and out of than LAX is.

1. Re: Airport car rental drop off. Simply drive into the lot of the car hire company you're using and drop off the keys. You'll need to wait for (and ride) the free shuttle provided by the car hire company to transfer you to the airport (nearby). The whole process should take about 30 minutes.
