It's a bit fiddly to get the balance in both ears, try pushing it partly into the socket until it balances out. I also prefer to use my own headphones.

Our various headphones: Bose QC15's, and then Bose QC Earbuds, and AudioTechnica NC Earbuds all have single pole connectors (1/8" inch/3.5mm TRS mini-jacks) have worked in every UA plane flown in the last 5 years.

Howdy travellers, the 3 jack layout used in those aircrafts is the standard mono right and left signals with a third jack that is used for active noise cancellation. There are no known headsets sold to consumers that use this. The standard airline adapter will work in this port.

4 years ago. On cruise ships and most international hotels and hostels, they all have sockets for American standard recharge plugs, iPhone, ipad, laptop, camera, you don’t need anything else. You can buy a basic plug adapter for Europe in store or on eBay for $1-$2. Certainly no need for surge protector.
