I would be embarrassed to ask for a senior citizen discount , although i did possess a Philippine SS card but a few years ago the mayor asked the foreigners to return them all. I did but others didn't. 20 % savings on a meal is hardly worth the bother unless you are very hard up.
Re: Seniors discount. No, I would not say its true by any stretch that seniors enjoy 20% off in "most" establishments in the Philippines. Restaurants, bars, malls etc do not offer these discounts for over 60's as a general rule. Some hotels might, and maybe some public transport, but check first and don't assume.

Filipino senior citizens with valid ID and staying in the rooms can avail of 20% discount provided they book directly with the hotel. Online sites such as Agoda do not currently allow for them so please ensure booking is made directly with the hotel.

hello. will be travelling with some seniors in the Philippine over Christmas. 2 are balikbayan senior, one is a Canadian. i read somewhere that seniors enjoy discounts of 20% in most establishments. does that include hotels, restaurants, flights, shopping? what is the age to be considered senior in the Philippines? 60 or 65?
