Gelson's and Whole Foods are the most expensive, IMHO. If you want a Healthy Grocery Store, check out Sprouts Farmers Market in Southern California.

Walmart seems to have a certain caché for some visitors but, especially in L.A., Walmart's stores are old and in inconvenient and often unattractive neighborhoods. Target stores, on the other hand are much newer, much more plentiful and easier to reach.
