An Epic pass is a product of the resort. It sounds like you think any store can sell them, and they cannot. So you have to get it at an official resort ticket window. I don't know what you mean about going to one of the peaks. You get it at the base ticket window.
Kids Area looked like fun for the littles. Free gondola ride is a great experience for anyone and is a way better deal then the $99 unlimited Epic Discovery pass. Went on a Wednesday night for a friends Birthday celebration, with 10 people the Epic buffet was in everyone's budget. The food was absolutely horrible, saying all the meat was dry, hate to say the best thing was the chocolate covered strawberries. Didn't come to pay $19.99 for strawberries, left the casino hungry. An epic local pass is $639 for an adult $335 for kids. Skiing 3 days will be about break even. If you buy a pass it allows you to go out daily if you want and not feel bad if you only want to ski a couple hours. You can get friends and family discounts with 1 epic but over the holidays they will be minimal. Book the lessons as soon as you can.
