If you want to avoid driving into Sevierville and Pigeon Forge on hwy 441/parkway, you can take I-40 to Newport TN and get on hwy 411 then turn on Veterans Parkway to Dollywood Lane to traffic light #8. Turn left on hwy 441/parkway. OR. Drive I-40 through Knoxville. Take exit for the airport/hwy 129 S.

It will give you 3 routes Hwy 411 is a nice rolling hills type of road, no mountains. Once you get close to Townsend you will see a sign to the Foothills Parkway, this brings you on Hwy 321 near Pigeon Forge. Its a little bit of mountains but no switch backs, etc. The easiest option without getting onto I-40.
