Avis: $500 minimum deposit and a credit check. Thrifty (MORE RUDE): Deposit fo the cost of the rental plus up to an additional $250.00 and a "debit screening".
O.K. lastly, We did NOT use a credit card. That was my biggest worry. We had a Debit card linked to our checking. I made hubby load extra $$ into it prior to trip because I wasn't sure how much the hold would be. I was expecting them to hold maybe $500.00. All they held was $125.00. So, yes, a debit card works!!!

Last month, we rented a car from Budget at the Orlando airport for a one way trip up to St. Augustine.We made it 40 miles and the car broke down on I-4. I feel totally overwhelmed at the number of car rental agencies and the mixed reviews of each. It is hard to ignore the low rates of NU, FOX, or another discount company.
