The Garmin GPS I currently have has North American and European maps on it and is at full capacity. I don't have a memory slot and it looks like the Australian maps on the Garmin webpage cost more than 100 dollars. Thanks for the continued advice.

With Garmin's prices (No different with TOMTOM) you're better off waiting until you arrive in Canada and buying a brand new GPS. Glancing at bestbuy.ca I see a couple of brand new GPS for $120. Call it about £80.

I have found Google maps to be more reliable than gps on my more recent trips to Ireland. I have had free gps with my rental car and on the last two trips never took them out of the case.
