Best option, keep the car A car will be maybe 3 hours. Check on flying from palm springs to LAX. Flix bus goes to Downtown LA just outside of Union Station. Catch the 1/2 hourly LAX Flyaway bus. from Union Station bus terminal. I dont know how often Flix bus comes.
The shared van services that serve LAX (www.primetimeshuttle.com and www.supershuttle.com) can take you to Palm Springs, but it will cost close to $200 and will take hours - its not much more to fly, at least on a flight that makes one stop. Non-stops from LAX to Palm Springs are very expensive.
The Union Station Flyaway Bus ($10 per person). A taxi will take 45 minutes (or longer) since you'll be traveling during the morning 'rush hour' (assuming you're arriving on a weekday). That would put you at Greyhound at 8 a.m. There's a bus to Palm Springs that departs exactly at 8 a.m. which you are unlikely to make.
