This is the route we take monthly and took earlier this week at 10 am into Palm Springs area from LAX. It takes about two hours on a weekday morning. The van rental place will give you directions to the 105 freeway, a few blocks away from LAX. Take the carpool lane on the 105 E, the 605 N, the 60 E until it merges into the 10 E.

Most of the drive is unexciting as you are driving through the inland empire, we tend not to stop until we get out to the Palm Springs area. Other things to do.
Well, the "easiest" and most straight forward is to take I-10 east from Palm Springs to the 605 freeway south in LA, then the 605 south to the 105 freeway west to LAX. . 1. Re: Driving LAX to Palm Springs. 16 years ago. If you are arriving here on Wednesday, you are facing traffic on a totally epic level. If you truly get out of LAX by 9am, you should be relatively okay. But, by noon, you better be prepared for lots of sitting and waiting. Yes, it's about a 2-2.5 hour drive, with no traffic.

If you left palm Springs at 6:30, you might be there by 10:30. Traffic really starts to load up around 6:45. You want to be away from the 10 or 60 freeway by then.
The 105 W takes you right into LAX. 1. The 10 to the 60 to Riverside. Take the 91 west toward Beach Cities. At the 605 head north a couple miles and turn west on the 105. It’s a straight shot or the airport. 2. The 10 to the 60 through Riverside, continue to the 605 S. Take the 105 W to the airport.
Before noon, the 105 east to the 605 south for 2 miles, the 91 east to the 60, turns into the 10. Beautiful drive.
