    Santa Rosa _is_ less safe than communities of its size throughout the United States -- the majority of which are absurdly safe. Comparing safety there or in Tucumcari to safety in a city like Albuquerque is at best an apples-and-oranges comparison. I've certainly never observed obvious safety concerns in either small town.

    If you're worried about crime, I should mention that the crime rate in southern New Mexico is generally lower than Orange County, CA. As for national parks in the southern part of the state, we have natural wonders like Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands as well as ancient sites such as the Gila Cliff Dwellings and Bandelier.

Rapid City South Dakota, for instance, is called the unsafest city of it's size in South Dakota. The problem with that statement is that it's the ONLY city of it's size in South Dakota.
