Save. We are traveling this summer with our 18 and 20 year old kids. It looks like most car rental companies require drivers to be at least 21 to drive (even if they are just the "additional driver" added to the rental agreement that I sign). Does anyone know of a rental car company that would allow my 20 year old to drive?

We rent yearly through Avis at Heathrow and there is no upper age limit. In some countries outside of England/Scotland/Wales the upper limit is 75 but may be able to rent if you have documentation from your insurance company and physician stating you are healthy and accident free. I just noticed that some of the car rental agencies have a maximum age of 70 or 75. My husband is 80 and I'm 75, and wondering where we'd be able to rent a car? Some of them had a $5 or $10 extra charge daily if you're over 60. Seems strange as we are both safe drivers without any accidents for over 40 years.
