I've made the commute back/forth to SA during the day, and in addition, I-10 is my main highway to/from work. I agree with #2 that if you are driving through after 9 or 9:30am, all should be fine. This is a free service run by the State of Texas. It takes about 20-25 minutes and is a real treat for all on board. Sea Gulls fly around looking for food, dolphins jump along side and the sea breeze is delightful. We go this route eastbound to Galveston, rather than through Houston, because of the fun experience.
