    I used a local sim (Viettel) that way you get messages from the driver without any issues. I've haven't used a UK sim with Grab in Vietnam, so I can't confirm if it works the same as a local sim. But generally I found Grab app works well, cheaper then taxis and mostly the cars are clean and tidy compared to some taxis I've been in.

    The guy at the store cut a normal sim card to an iPhone sim card and it worked perfectly. It's very cheap, just about £15. I could use it to access internet during the trip through all main cities, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City. Very convenient. Have a good time in Vietnam.
