   The Budget rep is correct. rates vary and to cancel and rebook may make it expensive. Budget has options to adjust a car after you book or as Al said, they will have a rate for each additional day so you can just go with that. don't worry about it -- but having said that do monitor the rate online and see if the prices go down

Thus on a $1,000 rental thru AVIS. the same rental thru AVISMR is $1,100. In effect a $100 certificate is worthless.

   1. Re: Rental cars late return fee. Yes, it is normal. Normally the car-rental -periods are 24 hours, Some car-rental-companies have a grace period of 1 hour, but not more. So you'd had to pay 16 days anyway. Normally, before Covid, you only had to phone the rental company that you'll arrive late and it was ok.

You can use Expedia or other third party sites to compare rates, but then go directly to the rental car company's website to reserve. It's better not to get a third party involved, especially if there are any issues.

   You can choose your country of origin on the US websites but then the rates will be different. As for been up sold at the counter for refuelling, personal effects insurance etc, all rental companies do that. Just say no or check in online and skip the counter. In any case, Alamo, National and Avis are my goto for rental cars in the US.
