    1. Re: Flying Standby - American Airlines and others. The one time I flew standby on AA it was due to missing my earlier ticketed flight so I was high up on the list. When I asked at the gate whether I was going to be able to get on the flight they were able to immediately issue me a ticket and I had no choice of seat.
