However time pressures sometimes means it’s easier to see the sort of prices on offer on an aggregator site rather than traveling through each supplier individually. I’ve learned a lesson though. The offers where the company was not named seemed cheap, but I could see by reading the details that the unnamed rental car company was off the airport property and that generally includes only the shoddiest off the shoddy rental car companies. I would consider Priceline for a big discount, but not just to save a few bucks.
"Never rent from priceline" Priceline does not rent cars.They are a listing service for car companies. It is the car rental companies rules you have to follow. Many of the car rental companies that pay to be listed with Priceline are very bad companies with a very long history of complaints.
Car rentals thru an OTA/TA/airline website etc are the easiest transactions possible, easier than air or hotels, and that means back end as well as front. Direct links (that means computer links) from any number of car rentals companies to Priceline, instant confirmation. All the rental companies rental and location policies available on one site.
4 helpful votes. BEWARE--Hertz car rental made through Priceline. 10 years ago. Save. We made a pre-paid car rental reservation through Priceline for pickup at the New Orleans airport on 6/16/14. After checking in at the rental counter, we were told by the counter agent to step to the side and a car would be available "shortly."
My recommendation would be to use a reputable full service (bricks and mortar) travel agent, not an online booker, even Expedia. The only country/region where I’m familiar with full service agents is Europe, especially the UK. Others will be familiar with other regions.
