Back in the dark ages I made collect calls home from a pay phone and didn't have to pay anything myself. That seems like maybe it's a thing of the past now. Part of the problem with calling a CC and paying is that I've sometimes been on hold for extended periods of time. Perhaps they answer the overseas numbers more efficiently though.
