Answer 1 of 26: Hi I am planning to purchase some Louis Vuitton purses while in Paris. Need some advice as to whether prices are more attractive at the duty free stores at CDG or in the city (which comes with the added step of seeking the VAT refund).
In 2016, The dollar was very, very strong, so anything you bought in Paris, including Vuitton, felt like a bargain. Today, the Euro costs $1.17, which is not as good as 2016 ($1.05) but not horrible. Your best bet is to decide what bag you want, then go onto the LouisVuitton.fr website and find the bag and the price in Euros.

Go onto the LV website, put in that you are shopping in Italy, find the item you like and see the price quoted in euros. Convert that into dollars and you will know if you save money. Do be aware that you will have to deal with getting the VAT (tax) back which takes a bit of paperwork.
