   Most credit cards offer secondary insurance and cover only after you show other insurance won't pay. AMEX offers primary for a small fee (under $30 for 30 days) and my Chase Sapphire Reserve offers it as part of the annual fee. The rental company can immediately bill the card company for any damages and I'm out of it.
