Usually it’s not stated as 90% discount - it’s stated as “up to” 90% discount rate. That’s a big difference in marketing terms.
On top of that, I asked others staying at the hotel and they told me they also used hotwire and paid $70-100 less for their hotel. I wrote them an e-mail complaining but they told me I had to call customer service. I called on Monday to complain but all they would offer me is a $25.00 coupon. They said I had called too late after the hotel stay.

So I book a room trough Hotwire's "Secret Hot Rate" and it turns out that their Standard Rate is $2 cheaper at the same hotel. I didn't book the Standard Rate room because a pool was not listed in their amenities and I swim laps almost every day.

The going rate for this hotel was around $300 and with 50% discount came down to around $150 per night. After we booked the hotel name was revealed which was only 15% off the going ...
15 years ago. Beware "Pig In A Poke" bookings! I just got burned by Hotwire. I booked a hotel at LAX in order to get rest before an allnight trip. After booking I learned (as is their normal procedures) that I would be staying at the Holiday Inn LAX. That sounded fine to me until I called the hotel directly to make a routine inquirey.
