I had a QR code for me and added my wife. So two people, one code. At immigration they insisted one person, one code. So had to fill out a paper form for my wife. Then at customs, even though the forms say one per family, my code would not work for her. Do not have any advise, just passing along my experience.
When i I did that with the new etravel requiring a picture last month, 1- it was immediate, and a qr code was generated. 2- i use a yahoo address. There is no such thing as 48 hours because 1- e travel can only be initiated 72 hours prior to your arrival 2- those who didnt do it, needs to do it prior to checking in.
fwiw, we did get the QR codes a week before travel but they were never checked at any point. Not by the airline, not by anyone once we landed in Amman. With that said, it took less than 5 min to complete the information and get the QR code, so there's not much time savings by skipping this step. I would definitely just have it in case you need it.
