You'll likely need to pay for uber/taxi from the place you return the car to your hotel and then take another from your hotel to the airport. That's going to be $30-$40 (guesstimate depending on what you take) at least with tip.
While things can and do change, airport car rental prices have generally been very competitive when I did rent cars. You also aren't locked into one vendor and limited hours like you will be on the strip. When you figure the cab will be about $30 after tip and possible credit card surcharge, that goes a long way to a day's car rental.

There is one shuttle bus from the airport that takes everyone to the same facility. Just use one of the major companies and you will be fine; Avis, Hertz, Dollar, National, Budget, Thrifty, Alamo.
