Telling me they didn’t have my car because it was peak season, trying to charge me $100 a day for insurance, every lie and scam you can imagine. I walked out after an exhausting hour and got a taxi. I will never try to rent a car in Mexico again nor will I ever rent from Hertz again that they can permit this criminal activity.
Credit card charged $1500.00!!! $1000.00 of taxes, false upgrade, and random services. We declined all, charged for all to the enormous sum of $1500.00!!! It is a total scam. It is disgusting customer service and the consequent customer complaint service is just as dismissive and a huge example of "buck passing" so that no-one has to address an obvious scam to get more sales out of customers who feel they have no rights.

Hertz car rental. SCAM ALERT! 4 years ago. SCAM ALERT! Do not do business with Herzt San Jose Del Cabo establishment. I booked on-line for a no frills small impact car for my son and I. I waited in line for over 20 minutes while three sales representatives dealt with angry customers. I should have taken that as a cue and left but I felt stuck.
We booked the car like 2 months in advance and everything worked fine for the pick-up (except waiting time). Car was ok, but very basic and A LOT of scratches! When we returned the car, I had to pay additional 250€ for insurance, roadside assistance and some extra fees like airport fees (although the station is outside the airport).
16. Re: Beware Hertz car rental scam. 5 years ago. The car rental agent will be unable to pull off a "new" reservation if you have a printed copy of the original reservation - which you should have had. I always print every page of my reservation and have it with me when I pick up the car just in case there is a problem.
