I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental. I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot and picking out my car. So for me I don't see a great advantage to Priceline anymore.

I currently have a pretty good price with Alamo ($19 per day) for mid size car for a 3 week trip in the fall. This is using my costco membership discount.
-Hawaiian airlines discount with Avis: K816401 (This one tends to be the cheapest)-Island air discount with Budget: U030087-Other rental car options include Discount hawaii car rental, Adventures rent-a-jeep (used cheap 4x4s), Costco, Priceline and Expedia. I'm sure there are lots more options, but found these to be the best.
4. Re: Car Rental Promotion/Discount Code? 14 years ago. Costco / Alamo had the best rates I could find, however I also won a $20/day convertible through Priceline. If I had not gotten the bid I would have gone with Costco / Alamo, and their prices for midsized, standard, and full size were all the same.
