If we do web check-in then airasia will charge for the seats? I don't wanna hot seat but want to seat together with my spouse and infant. Neither bassinet seat. Anyone can help me. As I am going to travel first time with Airasia. Yes, I do have 20kg checked baggage with me which already been paid while ticketing. Thanks.
Air Asia's policy is pretty simple, if you want to pick your seat you pay, if you want to let their computer assign your seat its free. The policy pretty much applies right up to departure time. And I have seen quite a few times when people traveling together are seated into different parts of the cabin.
If you go through Malaysia, you must web check in & print your boarding pass as from what I remember, there was no regular check in counter. Air Asia staff at other airports generously printed a new boarding pass (glossy narrow paper or more expensive little paper of non-budget airlines) and took my boarding pass I printed from computer (A4 paper).
With Web Check in, you check in on-line at home upto 7 days with AirAsia before your flight and print off your boarding pass. You then proceed to the Web Check In baggage drop, where your boarding pass is checked. Much quicker than queing up to check in at the airport.
AirAsia web check-in opens 14 days before departure. You can also check-in using the mobile app and the self-service kiosks at the airport. For domestic flights, check-in at the counter incurs a RM10 fee.

We are a party with children and they assign seats to us that are all separate from each other while there are plenty of other seats to choose from in another row.
Has anyone else had trouble trying to do the web check in with Air Asia. We fly within 48 hours and sometimes it doesnt get past the first screen and on other attempts, it brings up the passenger names, I select the names and nationalities and then hit continue. It then says sorry we are unable to process your web check in.
