Fox USA is probably different than Fox Costa Rica ..Most rental agencies in CR are not corporate operated, and are agencies owned in CR. That's why many on tripadvisor offer the advice to deal with the rental agency in Costa Rica, not with a third party like Kayak, Expedia etc.

I booked a reservation with Fox Rental Car online for pick up in Liberia ( Costa Rica) and then read horrible reviews on the tripadvisor forums. People were complaining about the deceptive fees, rates and terrible experiences.

   Fox car rental in Costa Rica, turns out, requires an insane amount of $30,000 deposit. I repeat - $30,000 deposit for ANY renter. If you don't put down that deposit, they force you to buy yet another layer of insurance even though I purchased the extra CDW from Booking.com (and on top of my credit card and US insurance).
