We needed a vehicle to fit 2 adults and our 4 older (taller) teens and luggage. We rented through VAMOS RENT-A-CAR with pick-up/drop-off at the San Jose airport.

They picked us up from the airport. However, then they proceeded to charge us over $800 for insurance. We felt scammed at midnight in CR after our flights.

Be sure to book directly with the Costa Rican agency website and not a US website or a third party booking agnet. Report inappropriate content.

   Even the Europcar website that lists the costs of deposit on a credit car for the country of Costa Rica is the total rental estimate + 1600 USD. But when picking up your rental car, they will instead inflate the cost to $30,000, a flat out incorrect amount and in direct contrast to what their website advertises.
