Fox USA is probably different than Fox Costa Rica ..Most rental agencies in CR are not corporate operated, and are agencies owned in CR. That's why many on tripadvisor offer the advice to deal with the rental agency in Costa Rica, not with a third party like Kayak, Expedia etc.

   Even the Europcar website that lists the costs of deposit on a credit car for the country of Costa Rica is the total rental estimate + 1600 USD. But when picking up your rental car, they will instead inflate the cost to $30,000, a flat out incorrect amount and in direct contrast to what their website advertises.

   Fox car rental in Costa Rica, turns out, requires an insane amount of $30,000 deposit. I repeat - $30,000 deposit for ANY renter. If you don't put down that deposit, they force you to buy yet another layer of insurance even though I purchased the extra CDW from Booking.com (and on top of my credit card and US insurance).
