Re: paying for toll fees with rental car. 10 years ago. You can not pay as you go in Florida. You must have a SunPass transponder or Thrifty Rental Car has a PlatePass that they charge you for each day. I had a 16 day rental from them and only used the toll road the first and last day. The total toll charges were $10.40.
