    You may find credit card slower if you have to sign to use an overseas card, but some places take Apple /Google Pay as well. I think you will find few places now that are cash only.     Both times that I've gone to Hawaii I opened an account at Bank of Hawaii. It gave me free access to ATM's basically anywhere that we went and allowed me to limit the amount of cash I had to carry (or leave in the room). Bank of Hawaii has online account to account transfers which made it easy to transfer money as my balance got low.
