Walmart de México y Centroamérica, also known as Walmex, is the Mexican and Central American Walmart division. Walmart de México y Centroamérica is Walmart 's largest division outside the U.S. as of October 31, 2022, consists of 2,804 stores around the country, including 300 Walmart Supercenter stores and 167 Sam's Club stores. Cifra - Walmart's operations in Mexico started as Walmex, a joint venture between Cifra of Mexico and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Walmart later bought a majority interest in Cifra and changed the name to Walmart de Mexico. Walmex is independently traded on the Mexican stock exchange, although Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. holds a majority interest.
By 1991, Arango partnered with Wal-Mart, a move that eventually brought the Wal-Mart retail stores to Mexico. The Mexican chain was later renamed Walmex and became the starting point for Wal-Mart's expansion in Mexico. By 1997 the Arango family decided to sell majority shareholding of CIFRA to Wal-Mart in a transaction worth over $2 billion.
In its international division, ad revenue was up 27%, led by Flipkart and Walmex. Walmart also acquired television maker Vizio recently, leaning further into the streaming business.
Walmart has $93 billion invested in the businesses, with its largest stakes in Flipkart (84%) and PhonePe (84%). Drbul determined Walmart's stock is worth $180, roughly 12% higher than current levels.

Walmart de México y Centroamérica. Bodega Aurrerá is a Mexican discount store owned by Walmart de México y Centroamérica. The chain was first established in 1970 in Mexico City. Though every Aurrerá store was converted into Walmart, both Aurrerá and Bodega Aurrerá names survived, the former as a product brand and the latter as a store.
