    Shasta lake is at an historic low water level, which has prompted the building of new roads to the marinas and the closing of most boat ramps. I would love to visit this lake when it is back up to capacity, but in the meantime, the beauty of the hundred-foot banks and exposed dam building structures are sights to behold all their own.

However, as of now, Feb 2023, the heavy rains have once again filled the lake almost to capacity. Local ranchers use the water for their cattle, so even when it gets full, the cows slowly bring the level down until the next rains.

    Shasta Lake Camping. The campgrounds at Shasta Lake are beautiful, unique, and numerous! We have been to over 9 different campgrounds surrounding the lake and have loved each and everyone. They all are different and have thier own personalities. The price for camping is very resonable during these time especially compaired to Disneyland or Hawaii.

    A visit to lake Shasta caverns is a short 2 hr adventure. It starts with a short 10 minute boat ride across lake Shasta. Saw a couple of bald eagles. From there it’s another short bus ride up the mountain to the entrance of the caverns. The tour through the caverns takes about an hour.
