6 years ago. "My U.S. Citibank Costco-branded credit card has the "wave" symbol on it, which I think means it can be used for contactless tap and pay. I have tried my costco citi card at multiple locations in the US that accept contactless payments and it has not worked at any location. I believe the wave symbol on that card is meaningless.
Even if you card does not work on the tube or buses, you could link it to phone pay (ApplePay etc) and use that method. *** Or use it to buy an Oyster card. It will also make many of your purchases (up to £30 no signature) much easier in London an the rest of the UK. Edited: 5 years ago
6 years ago. My U.S. Citibank Costco-branded credit card has the "wave" symbol on it, which I think means it can be used for contactless tap and pay. However, a Citi customer service rep told me yesterday that the "wave" symbol only means that I can load the card in my Apple Wallet app and use the card as an Apple Pay method.

As Alberta-traveler said in Post #4, there is a surcharge added on to credit card purchases. Prices in the store are usually marked with the "cash price" in big numbers and the "credit card price" in smaller ones. Likewise, the Costco cash registers display both the cash and credit card totals when your purchases are rung up. Edited: 7 years ago
