This is a requirement that you'd find in the fine print of any country/immigration. I really doubt they'd follow up on this unless they suspect you're here on a purpose different to what's stated in your visa.

And the taxes would add up close to the amount that you'd have to pay for a similar car that's on sale here. If it was possible to bring in cars from Europe/elsewhere for a lower cost, every other Sri Lankan would have done so.
